Arrhythmia & Device Therapy
Procedures Explained
Arrhythmias are irregular heartbeats. Some cause palpitations, others can be life-threatening. Devices help regulate or shock the heart when needed.
Pacemaker:for slow heart rates
Inserted under skin below collarbone. Wires connected to heart to correct slow heart rate.

ICD
(Implantable Defibrillator)
for life-threatening rhythms
Detects dangerous rhythms and delivers shock to save life.

CRT
(Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy)
for heart failure
Special pacemaker for heart failure patients, coordinates both ventricles

Holter & Event Monitor
continuous rhythm recording
Holter/Event monitoring before deciding on device.

Ambulatory BP Monitoring (ABPM)
24-hour BP pattern tracking
A cuff records blood pressure every 15–30 minutes over 24 hours. Helps diagnose hidden high BP and evaluate BP medication control.

CT Coronary Angiogram
(at partner centre)
A CT scan with IV contrast dye. It shows blockages in heart arteries non-invasively.
